Went on my first run in about 7 months this morning. Amazing the changes pregnancy does to your body & how long it takes to get back to your pre-pregnancy self. I took it slow but it still felt GREAT! .
Being fit, healthy & living an active lifestyle is such a huge part of who I am now that I worked out through my pregnancy & felt great about it. During the first couple of weeks post partum, being a mom was my main concern. I was in and out of the hospital feeding and providing whatever little care I was allowed to give to Austin from 9am-10:30 pm and caring for my older kids as well in between those hours. Exercise was the last thing I had time to think about because I was exhausted. However, what I did keep in mind was “I am what I eat.” Being busy did not mean that I had an excuse to eat whatever I wanted. I remained conscious that there were healthy options available & continued to make the right meal choices. I automatically lost 10 lbs post partum but i also managed to lose an additional 10 lbs by maintaining & focusing on my eating habits. my final weight in pregnancy 156, today I weight 135 lbs.
That being said. Last week I went to see my crossfit coach in order to come up with a plan to get me back into the gym. I’m so ready. Sitting around on my bum is driving me crazy. I agree that my mind is not where my body is. I just had a baby 3 weeks ago! However I know my body well & I will not push myself to the max….not yet anyway :). Here’s what my next 3 weeks look like as long as I feel up to it.
Week 1: walking 1-2 miles per day. Week 2: stretch & step up the cardio, more intensity using running, cycling, or rowing and for longer distance 2-3 miles. Measurements at the end of the week.
Week 3: it’s time to head back to the box! Crossfit Total & light weights (M-F)
Week 4: Paleo in full effect. Begin Triathlon training for Danskin.
This smoothie surprised me! GREEN & made with SPINACH! However, It tastes amazing! I added healthy fats by mixing in 1tsp. Of flax seed. Once I am no longer pregnant I will probably also add in 3 egg whites to add protein. The only problem is that banana, mango, & peach all contain more sugar than I wish to consume in one day 34g according to fitclick.com so I’ll be trying a low sugar alternative soon.
